2019 marks two very important milestones in my career: 30 years as a construction recruiter and 18 years successfully managing my own business. I have a strong knowledge base and powerful network within construction recruitment. I believe this sets me, and the company I have created, apart. Harvey Lawrence was formed in Manchester in 2001. I truly believe that our recruitment expertise within the build sector in the North West market is unparalleled. We launched our Midlands operation in 2009 and we have set the same standards here and built the same robust relationships. I have recruited some of today's industry leaders, including Regional Directors of major contractors and developers and there are many more that I have represented on their way to the top. I have also been involved in providing strategic recruitment advice to major organisations, as well as leading campaigns for national construction brands. My drive is to create value for jobseekers and employers alike through an informed and honest service. Our repeat business currently stands at 68% and our candidate referral rate is at 30%, so we must be doing something right! I naturally recruit people that share my values and I am lucky to have a team of people that have shown consistency, integrity and make Harvey Lawrence great. Clearly Harvey Lawrence is very personal to me and I am proud of what we do and wholeheartedly committed to reinforcing our position as a first choice construction recruitment specialist.
I have a lead role in the development of our Midlands office and I oversee our temporary division across both white and blue-collar disciplines for contractors and developers. I am involved with the recruitment of site engineering and management roles through to trades and labour. I am very involved in the day-to-day running of the business and I am passionate about service delivery based on strong market knowledge and honesty. Prior to Harvey Lawrence, I had a long term management career within the hospitality sector where I managed a major events and wedding venue, before running my own business. It was during these years that I learnt the importance of good customer service provision and building long-term relationships. I believe clients put their trust in me as I always go the extra mile and pride myself on being honest in all my communications. If you require assistance with recruiting temporary staff in the Midlands or you are looking for your next temporary assignment please feel free to contact me.
I joined Harvey Lawrence twelve years ago and throughout that time I have focused on recruiting in the Manchester market, placing both permanent and temporary staff for contractors and developers. I am fiercely committed to offering the best possible recruitment service to all of our clients and candidates. Before joining Harvey Lawrence, I spent twelve years in financial services which gave me a strong background in business and dealing with compliance, customer service and reporting. Overall I feel that my twenty-four year work history has given me a deep understanding of what good customer service should feel like. I have seen Harvey Lawrence develop as a strong construction recruitment force and feel proud of the market longevity and standing that we have created in an ever-changing marketplace. Our clients and candidates have confidence in the brand and trust that we do business the right way. For me, doing a good job and working for a company that you believe in is where it's at. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in exploring job opportunities or looking to recruit within the Greater Manchester or Merseyside areas.
Senior Recruitment Consultant
I am responsible for the recruitment of temporary management and technical disciplines for contractors and developers. I recruit for roles such as site engineers, site managers, project managers, design managers, bid managers, planners and quantity surveyors throughout the North West and Midlands. I joined Harvey Lawrence five years ago and during that time I have built really good relationships with clients and candidates. They often come to me as a first port of call because they know that I am experienced and honest in what I do. Prior to Harvey Lawrence, I spent seven years in loss adjusting, two of these included working in Australia alongside a structural engineer. This role involved organising projects and gave me a good overall understanding of the construction sector and working to tight deadlines. I feel this experience has proven to be invaluable because I am able to work under pressure and produce fast results. I am based in our Midlands office and work closely with our North West team. What I like about working at Harvey Lawrence is not only the excellent rapport we have with our candidates and clients, but that I can make a valued contribution to a business where my own ideas are welcomed.

I have a real passion for the construction industry so it's more than just placing people, I'm genuinely interested in what they do. Our inclusive culture of working colloboratively on recruitment drives allows us to 'bounce ideas', often yielding extraordinary results. I relish the involvement and variety I get through working on projects and new campaigns that we do within the wider business. Overall, I am confident that Harvey Lawrence’s values align well with my own and that we deliver a standout service in a crowded market.
I have recently joined Harvey Lawrence and returned to the recruitment sector following a career break to raise a young family. I have 12 years recruitment experience and a good knowledge of the construction sector with my father having worked as a Quantity Surveyor. My experience covers both permanent and temporary recruitment and a wider business understanding gained through setting up, developing and ultimately selling my own business. I feel that my main strength is my ability to build relationships and win trust. I thrive on meeting new people and I am well-versed in networking and creating new opportunities. I wholeheartedly believe that good recruitment is about getting the fundamental principles right – taking time to listen and understand, creating rapport and trust and being a good networker that can communicate with maturity and credibility.
Accounts and Administration Manager
I oversee our accounts, payroll and administration functions which involves detailed reporting and analysis. I work within a busy team where there are constant deadlines and strict standards to meet. What I like most about my role is the variety and challenge. My entire career has been within finance and administration in a variety of business sectors, so I am well-versed in accounts packages and payroll functions. Harvey Lawrence is a timeline environment supporting a team of busy recruiters. I thrive in the role as I consider myself to be analytical, detailed and calm under pressure.
Compliance and Payroll Manager
I am responsible for payroll and compliance which involves extensive checking and reporting. Compliance and reporting has been the mainstay of my experience, both in the UK and Australia. Originally from the West Midlands, I returned home from Australia in 2018 and joined Harvey Lawrence. I was attracted to the business as it was clear to me that compliance is considered a priority and I felt the role would be well-suited to my skillsets. My time in Australia has given me a more rounded experience of business, particularly in terms of learning to work with Government state regulations in a different continent.
