Our Story

Manchester roots

Harvey Lawrence was founded in 2001 with a clear vision to create a recruitment brand that delivers a service based on trust, expertise and relationships. The business was established by Sarah Harvey, who had already gained 12 years' experience as a construction recruiter in the North. This gave Harvey Lawrence strong foundations from day one.

From 2001 to 2008 we built a solid client base with contractors and developers recruiting all levels of permanent and temporary staff. Harvey Lawrence led multiple recruitment drives for a wide range of clients. We developed our white-collar service offering across a range of building, housing and civil engineering projects. We were heavily involved in recruiting for major education and health frameworks and the previous residential boom. Today, Harvey Lawrence’s presence in the North West region is as strong as ever. 

Midlands success

In 2009 Harvey Lawrence expanded into the Midlands, opening a new office. The platform for this expansion came from a well established client in Manchester who chose us to lead the recruitment for their new Birmingham office. Throughout the next three years we recruited for a number of management roles and quickly established a strong reputation with a number of key clients. We have successfully mirrored the relationships that we have built in the North and today, we are a known recruitment force in the Midlands market.

U.K. coverage

Harvey Lawrence has developed its geographical coverage throughout the UK. This development has largely been motivated by existing clients who have chosen us to lead recruitment campaigns further afield. Our current supply reaches as far north as Edinburgh and as far south as Southampton.

To the future

In 2019, Harvey Lawrence celebrates 18 years of success. The business has survived two recessions and emerged stronger than ever. We have done this by focusing on our key markets, adapting to change and continuing to do the job properly. Moving forward our aim is to continue delivering an exceptional service based on results - 68% of our business is repeat and more than 150 of our clients have used Harvey Lawrence for at least 10 years. These figures speak for themselves.
